Depuis le 13 janvier 2006, l’institut monétaire de Noida est rattaché à la SPMCIL (Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India Limited), qui regroupe l’ensemble des ateliers, dont voici la liste :

La décision de créer l’atelier monétaire de Noida fut prise par le gouvernement indien en 1984, avec une production annuelle alors estimée à 2.000 millions de pièces. Deux an plus tard, en 1986, le projet fut mis en place par le Département de l’Economie et des Affaires, rattaché au Ministère des Finances du gouvernement indien. Le budget était estimé à 300.000.000 Rupees.

La Monnaie de Noida a été bâtie par la Société Nationale de Construction de Bâtiments (NBCC, pour National Building Construction Corporation) et les Consultants en Métallurgie et en Ingénierie (MECON, pour Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants) étaient les consultants en ingénierie. Les travaux ont été achevés dans les délais escomptés, le 1er juillet 1988.

L’atelier de Noida a frappé des monnaies pour d’autres pays que l’Inde, notamment la Thaïlande et la République Dominicaine. La demande devenant croissante et fort importante, des pièces furent frappées également de nuit à partir d’avril 2012.

In 1984, Indian government decided to establish a new Mint in Noida, with an estimated production capacity of 2,000 million coins per year. Two years later, in 1986, the Department of Economic Affairs, attached to the Ministry of Finance of Indian Government, started the project. Estimated budget was Rupees 30 Crore*.

The Mint was built by National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) and Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants (MECON) within the given time frame, on 1st July 1988.

The Noida Mint has struck coins for India and for other countries, such as Thailand and Dominican Republic. Due to an increasing demand, the Mint started producing coins in the night shift from April 2012.

*« Crore » is an Indian English term used for number 10,000,000.
