French graduation system uses the term “très très beau” (TTB) for coins from 40 to 54 on the American graduation scale (from 1 to 70). In the American system there are more than one term :

Coins in an Extremely Fine condition (EF, or XF) have a light wear. All details are well visible. They still can be traces of Mint luster. Numbers from 40 to 45 are attached to them. We can also use the term Choice Extremely Fine (EF, XF too) for the coins graded 45, that have evident traces of the Mint luster.

Coins in an About Uncirculated condition (also called Almost Uncirculated) (AU) have a really light wear and at least half of the Mint luster. Numbers from 50 to 58 are attached to them. We can also use the term Choice About Uncirculated (AU too) for the coins graded 55, that have some evidence of friction on the highest points of the reliefs and most of the Mint luster.

Here you will find coins in such conditions, currently available in Elysées Numismatique coin shop.
