Tête de la figure mythologique Europe de face, représentée avec les emblématiques étoiles européennes dans sa chevelure ; cinq drapeaux flottants au-dessous d’elle, six autres à gauche ; au bas du dessin le millésime 2006 entre les poinçons français (à gauche la corne d’abondance de la Monnaie de Paris, à droite le cor de chasse, différent monétaire choisi par l’artiste graveur Hubert Larivière, avec deux vagues et l’ébauche d’un poisson) ; sigle de l’euro dans un rond, répété douze fois le long du listel, dans la partie supérieure.
