Un dessin de l’artiste graveur Valerio De Seta et de l’artiste sculpteur Patrizio Daniele, dont les signatures apparaissent sur la droite, représentant Jésus assis sur un trône, bénissant de la main droite et tenant l’Evangile de la gauche ; sur la gauche, la valeur faciale 20 EURO dans un cercle et le nom de la puissance émettrice CITTA’ DEL VATICANO (en français CITÉ DU VATICAN) ; en haut, la lettre R de l’atelier de Rome. Entre les statues des Saints Pierre et Paul, qui ornent l’entrée de l’Université pontificale du Latran, les armoiries du pape François Ier, à l’écu bleu portant en partie haute le soleil rayonnant et flamboyant chargé des lettres IHS en rouge (la lettre du milieu surmontée d’une croix) et des trois clous noirs, emblème de la Compagnie de Jésus, et en partie basse l’étoile et la fleur de nard (hommages respectifs à la Sainte Vierge Marie et à Saint Joseph), sous une mitre placée entre deux clés d’or et d’argent décussées aux boucles traversées par une corde ; devise MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO (en français CHOISI PARCE QUE PARDONNÉ) en dessous ; en haut, le long du listel, la légende FRANCISCUS PP. AN. XI MMXXIII ; en bas, également le long du listel, douze étoiles à cinq branches

Between the statues of Saints Peter and Paul, that adorn the entrance of the Pontifical Lateran University, the coat of arms of Pope Francis, made of the blue shield crowned by the mitre between gold and silver crossed keys, bearing a radiant sun, carrying the letters IHS in red (H surmounted by a cross) and three black nails ; an eight-pointed star (tribute paid to Saint Joseph) and a nard flower (tribute paid to the Virgin Mary) beneath the sun ; motto MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO (in English BY HAVING MERCY, BY CHOOSING HIM) below ; at the top, alongside the rim, the legend FRANCISCUS PP. AN. XI MMXXIII ; at the bottom, alongside the rim too, twelve five-pointed stars
