Au centre, le symbole du Yin et du Yang marqué de la valeur faciale 1/4 € (un quart d’euro), des initiales RF de République Française, et des poinçons français (à gauche la corne d’abondance de la Monnaie de Paris, à droite le différent choisi par l’artiste graveur Joaquin Jimenez) ; autour, les douze kanjis chinois correspondant aux signes zodiacaux chinois ((虎[hǔ]), (兔[tù]), (龍[lóng]), (蛇[shé]), (馬[mǎ]), (羊[yáng]), (猿[yuán]), (雞[jī]), (狗[gǒu]), (猪[zhū]), (鼠[shǔ]) et (牛[niú])), leur équivalent en français, et la représentation des animaux correspondants : tigre, lapin, dragon, serpent, cheval, chèvre, singe, coq, chien, cochon, rat et bœuf
